What's the difference between an accordion and a concertina?

The concertina, invented in 1829 by Charles Wheatstone, is similar to an accordion, but has a hexagonal shape and buttons on both ends. Concertina buttons travel in the same direction as the bellows whereas accordion buttons travel perpendicular to the direction of the bellows.

I really like this instrument for the price. It comes with almost 2 octaves, with no middle tones (sharp or flat). but is a good start for kids. I really love it. I have to be with my 2 1/2 y/o Son while he plays with it because he can destroy any toy, then I better be careful sometimes and save it for later.
