This is a great real world toy-- it allows children to experiment with a mechanism that is very useful; the gear. Through play, children figure can discover which way a gear will turn and how the size of a gear affects the speed of it rotation-- all while building a jungle scene and delightfully sending animals on a spinning ride. Younger children may have a hard time lining up the connectors on the bottom of each gear with the holes that they go in, but once they get the hang of it, they become engrossed in the activity.
