The dramatic Firebird Ballerina, in the tradition of Maria Tallchief, stuns audiences in a flaming red tutu with her fiery wings unfolding in a blaze behind her. Leg pockets allow for kicks, splits, and leaps.
The story for the Firebird Ballet was
created from several Russian fairytales by the Russian
choreographer Mikhail Fokine.
Igor Stravinsky wrote Firebird's music when he was an
unknown composer of 28. The ballet was first performed in 1910.
The Firebird was the most important role in the career of Maria
Tallchief, the Native American prima ballerina,
who danced the role of the firebird with the New York City Ballet in 1949.
To animate the Firebird Ballerina Puppet by Folkmanis, place fingers of one hand into wing openings and neck. Place two fingers of other hand into holes at top of legs.
