The Chimalong Jr by Woodstock Percussion is a unique children's instrument combining the purest musical sound with a creative system for learning to play and sing songs. The colorful songbook can be understood by children of any age: younger kids can play songs by simply matching colors; older children can use the number system, and, eventually, children learn traditional musical notation. It's fun for parents to play along with children while everyone learns more about music!

This wonderful metallophone was first introduced in 1986 and is one still one of the most popular products that Woodstock produces. It has been recommended for its educational value by such notables as John Sebastion, Marilyn Horne, Andre Watts, Peter Schickele and the late Jim Henson.

The Woodstock Chimalong Jr is made from the safest, high quality materials. Each Chimalong tube is precision-tuned to the same standards of the world-famous Woodstock Chimes, and securely suspended in a safe rubber holder ensuring the soft, resonant sound of the instrument

This is a very clear sounding musical instrument. It was already put together (a plus) and sounded terrific. My 3 and 4 year old enjoy playing it very much...so do I! :)

We have a xylophone toy very similar to this that we found at a yard sale. I'm assuming (and hoping) that the bars of this instrument can be moved and switched as ours can. If this is the case, then I would highly reccomend this instrument. Young kids like changing everything around and enjoy the loud sounds they can make with it. Older children may concentrate on putting them in teh right order, playing songs according the color code, and making up their own songs. This is a great addition to any family's instrument collection, any child care center's music area, or anyone who wishes to teach a child about music in a fun way.
