AS FEATURED IN TIME MAGAZINE'S DECEMBER ISSUE OF BEST INVENTIONS OF 2005!
Learn how NASA took ants to space! Ant Farms have been a favorite toy for decades, and now they've gone space age. AntWorks uses a translucent gel as a tunneling medium for ants as well as their food and water source. Observe and record the habits of ants, up close and personal, with the included magnifying glass and zoom lens. Antworks is based on an actual 2003 NASA Space Shuttle experiment on how ants tunnel in microgravity. AntWorks kit includes a send-away certificate for live ants and informational booklet. Ants need no food or water as the gel contains all the nutrients they need. For extra fun, add the illuminator and turn your Antworks Ant Farm into a fun and fascinating night light.

Easy to set-up. Ants arrived within 3 weeks of ordering them. I set it up almost 2 months ago and the ants are still busy tunneling and working. No need to add food, water, or anything. Just dump the ants in and watch them work. I am using this with a group of middle school students as a lab observation. Came with a magnifying glass. The kids have really enjoyed it and even named some of the ants. The gel medium really allows you to see what's going on and the container can be passed around for observation without fear that it will disturb the ants tunnels. A definite hit for curious children of all ages. I will do this again next year!

This is, BY FAR, the best ant farm ever. You can see through the tunnels and watch the ants create an amazing system and home. The best ants to get are the harvester ants because of the size of their mandibles. I was skeptical about voluntarily putting ants in my house, but they are totally fascinating and an excellent lesson in life cycle and insects!
